NITROUS OXIDE SEDATION

DENTISTRY IN
MISSOURI CITY, TX

We offer nitrous oxide (or “laughing gas”) as a sedation dentistry option. Nitrous oxide is an odorless and colorless gas that helps relax our patients during a dental procedure. It is perfectly safe and can be used for many types of dental treatments, from a routine cleaning to more extensive procedures like fillings or root canals.

The effects of nitrous oxide are mild and short-term, so the patient will remain conscious throughout the procedure while experiencing minimal discomfort. Nitrous oxide works quickly and wears off soon after we stop administering the gas. Nitrous oxide can help reduce anxiety and fear for patients who have dental phobias or general dental anxiety. The effects of this sedative are relaxing, allowing our patient to remain calm and comfortable throughout their procedure. Our Fort Bend dentists take extra measures to ensure that the patient remains safe while under the influence of nitrous oxide during a treatment.

ORAL CONSCIOUS SEDATION NEAR SIENNA

Oral conscious sedation is a form of sedation dentistry which uses medication to help relax and reduce anxiety in dental patients. The medication is taken orally, usually in pill form, and helps the patient feel more relaxed and at ease before their dental procedure. During the treatment, patients will remain conscious but may become drowsy or fall asleep temporarily. Oral conscious sedation is safe and effective, and can help reduce anxiety levels during the procedure while still allowing the patient to respond to verbal commands from the dentist. Drowsiness may linger after sedation, so a ride home should be arranged before treatment begins.

IV Sedation

For patients who need a deeper level of relaxation, or who have a lot of treatment to get through in one visit, IV sedation is another option we offer. Instead of a pill or a gas, the sedative is delivered directly through a vein, which means it takes effect faster and can be adjusted throughout the appointment based on how you're responding.

Most patients describe the experience as time simply disappearing. You'll likely feel groggy or drift in and out during the procedure, and many people remember very little of it afterward. Your vital signs are monitored closely for the full appointment, so the sedation stays at a safe, steady level from start to finish.

Because IV sedation goes deeper than nitrous oxide or oral sedation, a little planning goes into the appointment. You'll need to arrange for someone to drive you home afterward, and we'll walk you through any fasting instructions ahead of time so you know exactly what to expect. It's a good fit for patients with significant dental anxiety, a strong gag reflex, or procedures like wisdom tooth removal, oral surgery, or multiple treatments handled in a single sitting.

If you're not sure which sedation option makes sense for you, that's a normal question to have. We'll talk through your concerns, your medical history, and what's involved in your treatment, then land on the option that fits.

"My kids and I have been patients of Dr. Dinh at Lake Olympia Dentist, and we couldn't be happier with the care we receive. Dr. Dinh and the entire staff are always professional, friendly, and welcoming from the moment we walk in the door.

They do an excellent job making my children feel comfortable and at ease during their appointments, which is something every parent appreciates. Dr. Dinh takes the time to explain everything clearly, answers questions thoroughly, and genuinely cares about his patients' dental health."

"I recently visited Dr Dihn’s dental office as a new patient and was very pleased with my experience. His staff was welcoming and professional throughout my visit. His hygienist, Allie, took the time to explain procedures related to my cleaning clearly to me, which made me feel comfortable throughout the appointment. The office was clean, organized, and efficient. I left feeling confident that I’ve placed my dental care in the right hands. All in all, great visit and I would definitely recommend this practice to anyone looking for a dentist."

" I came here to get a second opinion from a not so comfortable experience prior. Miaa, Dr Dinh, and Shannon were the sweetest and I 100% recommend coming here. My dental anxiety was easier to manage around them. Dr. Dinh is super comfortable to be around we even shared the same favorite cartoon. He recommended a game plan on my back bottom molar that is gonna end up needing a root canal or extraction. Nervous for the journey, but it’ll be ok!"

I decided to visit Lake Olympia Dental because the office is closew to home and I saw all the positive reviews, and I can see why! It was a seamless experience for being a new patient. Dr. Dinh and his staff were very personable, making sure you're at easy and having an enjoyable experience. They know their stuff and know how to make your visit smooth and efficient. The office is brand new, very clean and modern. My first time seeing a TV on the ceiling for patients to watch as you're getting your teeth cleaned. They also give you a warm face towel at the end to help freshen up. I sometimes forgot I was at the dentist.

I scheduled an emergency appointment today due to severe tooth pain and was able to be seen the same day. The office staff were very friendly and efficient, and the facility was new and clean. I appreciated how quick, yet thorough, my visit was. Most of all, I'm grateful for their late office hours, which made it possible for me to come in during the evening.
