Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is a dental health issue that can have an array of negative impacts on your oral and overall health. Gingivitis is the earliest stage of gum disease and is often the most easily treated form. It’s important to recognize the signs of gingivitis and gum disease early so that you can take steps to address the issue and prevent further damage.
The most common cause of gingivitis and gum disease is poor oral hygiene, including not brushing and flossing as often as recommended. Other causes may include smoking or using other forms of tobacco products, having diabetes or an immune-compromising illness, certain medications that reduce saliva production, and a family history of gum disease. It’s important to schedule regular dental checkups so that your dentist can monitor for signs of gingivitis or gum disease. Early detection and treatment are important in preventing further damage and giving your smile the best chance to thrive.
Gum disease and gingivitis can have a serious impact on your oral health if left untreated. Identifying the early signs of gum disease is critical to preventing more serious issues down the line. Here are some of the common symptoms:
For patients suffering from gum disease and gingivitis, Lake Olympia Dental is a trusting partner to get your gum health back on track. During your appointment, we will perform an examination to determine the severity of the condition before we proceed with treatment. This may include taking X-rays to assess the extent of the problem. We will also measure the depth of the gum pockets to see if there is any evidence of gum recession.
Once we have a better understanding of your condition, we will then proceed with cleaning below the gumline to remove plaque and tartar buildup that may be causing inflammation and infection. Depending on the severity of your case, we may recommend a thorough dental deep cleaning and more frequent cleaning visits to ensure proper monitoring for the disease. Our friendly team is here to ensure you receive the best possible treatment for your condition and help you maintain healthy gums.
Our team is committed to helping you achieve a healthier mouth with personalized treatments that work for you. We specialize in providing comprehensive family dentistry that can help prevent and treat issues such as bleeding gums and gum disease for a healthier smile. Schedule an appointment today to get started. We look forward to helping you reach the best possible oral health!

How ever Dr. Dinh has made me feel so comfortable that I didn’t even feel when he numb me he did 5 fillings and I didn’t feel a dam thing. He sure knows what he is doing 100% recommended I sure will be recommending my family and friends to him.
